Favicons Need Love To

It's been a while between posts so I thought, there's no better way to get the writing juices flowing again than to write about something has been bugging me every now & then, and that's the lack of love the favicon gets!

It truly amazes me when I go to these beautiful websites that have had thousands of dollars spent on them to find that they don't have the 16 x 16 favicon at the top of the browser... It really drivers me crazy, Let me put it this way, its like you go and buy a Mercedes Benz, spend thousands and the car looks great but they just don't put the Mercedes badge on the car!!!

It may just be me but I find it such a let down when the favicon gets no love, plus your amazing new webpage looks really.... well unfinished, so please whether you are a web designer or a client make sure the humble favicon gets its rightful & glorious 16 x 16 spot at the top of your browser.

Web design SEO tips: part 2

4. Robots.txt

A mistake I find often is that Robots.txt with a no follow are active, make sure this is not the case as Google will not be able to view your content on your site, this means no Google rank.

5. Back-links

Back-links are tricky! Don't be fooled into web directories as they often have negative results in Google's eye's, this is because the are mostly spam.

What I strongly recommend is joining the main social media websites to start of your back-link building e.g. Google +, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Design Directory

Another good idea is to ask your favourite blog in the industry your associated with to link to your site, or even better to write a blog post about you and your business.

I hope this small Segment on seo tips helps.

Web design SEO tips: part 1

I specialize in optimizing my clients websites to rank high in search engines. Everyone wants to rank highly in Google, first page is always the goal. But how do we achieve this? Have you thought about your target audience? What are the keywords in your industry? Most People don't even know.

So now lets look a some points everyone should know about Google rank. :)

1. There is no way to guarantee *1 spot or first page on Google.

Google is always changing its algorithm, No one outside of Google knows this algorithm, Google give us guidelines on good and bad SEO. You may get to 1 Google search rank for your desired field, only for Google to change there algorithm and the next thing you know you on page 3.

2. It takes work and maintenance to rank high.

Content is the key, Google love fresh unique content, this is why having a blog is very important , as it provides fresh content on websites that don't have large content turnover.

3.  Images are content.

Google search bots don't understand or see images the way humans do, so we need to use "alt" tags to give Google bots the information.

Also use key words in the image name file. Lets see this in use:

<img title="Funny Cats" src="http://nrg.com/funny-cats.png" alt="Funny Cats">

Don't use

<img src="http://nrg.com/img_076.png">

The optimized tags will give Google bots an image that they can understand.
